Match
4, Superphon verses Lyngdorf
Superphon
(amp N)
By
this round most people were not checking off specifics about the
amps with the provided grading system. So we'll move straight
to comments noted.
Comments:
More dynamic, more emotional, sounds "Big", more life,
dynamic, fast, pleasing top end, ballsy, more life like, better
imaging, very nice sounding over all, excellent dynamics and life,
best so far, more information, sound comes out of speaker, vocals
generally good on both but slightly different, better grip and
attack perhaps better imaging on "N" (need to listen
again).
Lyngdorf
(amp F)
Comments:
I didn't like it the first time, a little on the soft side, very
pleasing, delicate but full sound, warm side of neutral, seams
"flat" compared to "N", Not as much "life",
still sounds better with female vocals than in round 1, choice
of music has a big effect on the sound comparisons, smoother.
Choices
to circle for "Favored Amp" were: Barely, Slightly
Favored, Favored, or Clearly Favored
Choices
to circle for "Differences" were: Very Subtle, Subtle,
Slight but Clear, Clear, Clear in Areas, or Very Clear
Amp
Favored: 5 voted for "N". 2 circled "Favored",
1 circled "Clearly Favored"
Differences:
2 circled "Clear", 1 circled "Vary Clear"
2
people did not pick a winner.
With
a complete majority the Superphon amp moved to the next
round.
Foot
note: We had a dry run of the comparing process the Saturday
before the event. Amps present were Art, Lyngdorf, Superphon,
Edge, Exodus, and the Sonic T-amp. The T-amp was not compared.
There was a small group of three people here.
The
top two were: The Lyngdorf and the Superphon with an edge
being given to the Lyngdorf for being a smoother sounding amp.
The smoothly balanced sound of the Lyngdorf made it easy to listen
to for extended periods.
